CompuSet
CompuSet, the backbone of EMC Document Sciences' Autograph suite, is a centralized, automated production engine that gives organizations control over the entire documentation process, from assembly to composition to output. It offers more industry-standard output printing and viewing options than any other composition engine, and is flexible enough to handle production jobs of any size.
CompuSet produces composed pages and documents that are processed by printer emitter software to produce high quality documents in print and electronic formats. CompuSet can produce complete publications, with merged graphics, automatically extracted indexes, data driven graphics, and a table of contents.
Key Benefit
CompuSet uses a single code base that is portable across Windows NT, UNIX, and MVS platforms. Ideal for high volume output environments, CompuSet automatically assembles data, text, and graphics into dynamic customer communications without user interaction during production.
Key Components
Callable CompuSet
This optional component is an Application Programming Interface (API) that allows you to link CompuSet directly to your own applications developed in Visual Basic, C++, Java, COBOL, or other programming languages. It supports use of CompuSet in both batch and transactional environments.
Print and Electronic Emitters
- Print Emitters transform a composed document to formats that meet your print needs. Page Description Languages (PDLs) formats currently supported include: Xerox MetaCode; Adobe PostScript; IBM AFP; and HP PCL5. The PostScript emitter supports both Creo's Variable Print Specification (VPS) and Xerox's Variable Data Intelligence Postscript Printware (VIPP).
- With the PDF Emitter your CompuSet-composed documents can be delivered to anyone, anywhere using Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). The PDF Emitter uses standard PostScript Type 1 Fonts, and can also embed special fonts which are not contained in the PostScript Base 14 Type 1 fonts list. The PDF Emitter supports the creation for PDF documents for import into FileNET Capture, FileNET Panagon, and IBM Content Manager On Demand.
- CCF Emitter/CompuView Navigator
- Archives your CompuSet documents electronically and views them in a stand-alone Windows environment with CompuView Navigator. The Composite Container Format (CCF) from EMC Document Sciences provides an ideal method for archiving your personalized, high-volume full-color documents while retaining their original compositional features.
Output Processing
Output Processing (OP) is an optional module within VC Pro and DLS. It enables organizations to streamline and control the output of individual documents in a multi-document stream. Output Processing allows you to sort documents into separate files; produce separate output files for special finishing needs; merge a variety of documents from one or more streams for various recipients into a single file; and assemble documents just once for multiple recipient delivery. OP currently supports Post Net, 2 of 5, 3 of 9, Code 128, PDF 417, and OMR barcodes.
