Document Sciences Announces Release of Visual CompuSet Professional Edition™
10/5/1999, 7:00AM ET
CARLSBAD, CA (October 5, 1999) - On September 30, 1999, Document Sciences (NASDAQ: DOCX), a global leader in Document Automation solutions, released Visual CompuSet Professional Edition (VC Pro) for Beta distribution. VC Pro is an interactive document design tool that offers document designers a powerful, Windows-based graphical user interface for Color CompuSet®, the company's flagship composition product which is at the heart of thousands of Document Automation applications worldwide. Together, VC Pro and Color CompuSet represent a leadership offering for high-quality departmental and/or enterprise-wide variable data document production in the insurance, financial services, and commercial printing marketplaces.
VC Pro has been optimized for the production of "high value statements", including the generation of highly-personalized consolidated statements issued by numerous investment services firms to their customers. High value statements are official statements of record that include added-value benefits such as portfolio-consolidating summary reports, dynamic graphical analysis and clarity-enhancing color usage. High value statements also augment traditional account-by-account transaction reporting with the inclusion of personalized directed marketing messages, including full color web-like banner ads. Moreover, high value statements typically reflect the unique corporate image behind each financial institution, creating differentiation and branding in the highly competitive financial services industry.
VC Pro offers highly competitive companies a unique one-to-one marketing opportunity along with increased operational efficiencies, reduced time-to-market, and economies of scale. First, VC Pro automatically generates structured document layout and assembly code that enables people with little to no programming skill to design logic-based fully-automated documents. Second, VC Pro reduces the amount of time that is typically required to design a complex document through easy-to-use, interactive design and proofing tools for rapid applications development (RAD). Lastly, VC Pro users can create flexible, reusable documents and document components for consistent enterprise-wide implementation.
VC Pro is fully integrated with Color CompuSet, recently released by Document Sciences on July 12, 1999. In addition to enhanced output presentation, Color CompuSet supports the same document automation features as CompuSet®. With VC Pro, new features such as three-dimensional, multi-color pie and bar charts can be used to effectively communicate numerical data by visually comparing and contrasting graphical elements, adding product value and establishing a clear differentiation from competitors to help financial services corporations increase their market share. The inclusion of RGB or CYMK color-rich, marketing messages tailored to each recipient through rules-based business intelligence increases sales opportunities and channels for marketing additional products or services. With its ability to run variable data to the next generation of highlight color and full color printers from both Xerox and IBM, Visual CompuSet Professional Edition and Color CompuSet represent the most flexible and robust document automation solution available.
Commenting on initial customer feedback, Dan Fregeau, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development, said "The initial response from showing the product at recent seminars and from prospects is extremely positive. Our focus on customer requirements and competitive differentiation during the planning cycle looks to be a direct hit". Approximately ten to fifteen companies are participating in the Beta program during the next four weeks and the product will be released for general availability this year. Come and experience a live demonstration of VC Pro in Document Sciences' Xplor booth #525 (Los Angeles, Nov 2-4)!
