Introduces Major Upgrade To Rapid Application Development Tool For Integrated Financial Services Industry

CARLSBAD, CA (October 30, 2000) - Document Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: DOCX), a global leader in Document Automation and eCRM solutions, today announced the release of Visual CompuSet Professional Edition™ (VC Pro) v3.0, a major upgrade to the industry's hallmark software for swift, high-volume production of feature-rich personalized documents for the integrated financial services industry.

Used by major investment firms, credit card companies, insurance companies and other organizations, Visual CompuSet Professional Edition is a rapid application development tool that helps companies retain customers, enhance corporate image, and improve bottom line by generating high-value account statements and other personalized documents. Statements generated using VC Pro can include added-value benefits such as summary reports, dynamic graphical analysis, and clarity-enhancing color usage. Traditional account-by-account transaction reporting can be augmented with the inclusion of personalized cross-marketing offers, reply slips, and other special features.

VC Pro 3.0 delivers more than 25 new features, including:

  • Rendering for all Document Designer style objects, allowing the user to immediately view the effects of style changes
  • An enhanced PDF emitter with hypertext and bookmarking capabilities for Web applications
  • An updated "New Project Wizard" that makes it easy to develop new VC Pro applications
  • Support for multi-column layouts, page N of M, bulleted lists, and more
  • Import and export of COBOL copybooks, eliminating unnecessary reprogramming of previously-developed COBOL-authored applications

"These new features make VC Pro easier to use and more powerful than ever before," explained David Stallings, Product Manager. "They also give the user many more design options, all within VC Pro's familiar graphical user interface."
