MILWAUKEE, WI (December 11, 2000) - Fortis Health, a leading developer and provider of individual medical, small group, and specialty health insurance products has selected Document Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: DOCX), a leading developer of eCRM and Content Automation software solutions, to provide a comprehensive Explanation of Benefits (EOB), policy and contract compliance automation solution. The purchase includes over $500,000 in software licenses and consulting services.

Jack Gochenaur, senior vice president at Fortis Health, cited the Document Sciences software's ease of use, compliant content capabilities, and ability to generate simultaneous print and Web documents as key reasons for the selection.

"We look forward to the functionality that the Document Sciences system brings our organization," he said. "We recognize the importance of the written documents and correspondence to our customers and the enhanced functionality that this system will provide. In addition, we look forward to the opportunity this system provides to move forward with the electronic communication to our customers."

Software licensed by Fortis Health includes Visual CompuSet Professional Edition™ (VC Pro) v3.0, Document Sciences' easy-to-use graphical user interface for swift, design and production of personalized, feature-rich statements, and Document Library Services™ (DLS) v 6.0, the enterprise-wide solution for high-volume regulated documents such as policies and contracts.

"This is a very important investment for Fortis Health," said Dan Fregeau, Document Sciences' vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "We are pleased that they have selected Document Sciences' solutions with both their present and future content automation needs in mind. Fortis Health's selection, based in large part on the compliance capabilities of our software and our ability to take their regulated documents to the Web, further validates the uniqueness of our Autograph™ software architecture and its capability to simultaneously generate feature rich, media-specific compliant content for print and Web."
