WorldGroup to Incorporate Document Sciences' xPression® into InsureWorx Solution

1/14/2004, 7:00AM ET

CARLSBAD and EMERYVILLE, CA (January 14, 2004) - Document Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: DOCX), a proven leader and innovator in automating creation and delivery of enterprise business communications and WorldGroup, a components-based insurance software provider, today announced a reseller agreement, enabling WorldGroup to incorporate Document Sciences' xPression content processing services as part of WorldGroup's InsureWorx component library.

InsureWorx is the insurance industry's first and most comprehensive J2EE/WebSphere Application Server (WAS) software application: the preferred technology choice for mid- and large-size commercial and group carriers. xPression, an award-winning universal content processing architecture, is also a J2EE/WAS software application, designed for tight integration with existing systems, data and workflows. The addition of xPression's content processing to the InsureWorx product suite will allow insurers to radically streamline creation and delivery of policies, claims correspondence and other regulated communications through web, print, email, and other channels.

"Improving the accuracy and efficiency of the customer communications workflow represents one of the greatest, yet often overlooked ROI opportunities for many insurers," said Gary Sherne, CEO and President of WorldGroup. "xPression's component-based WAS architecture and use of XML for data interchange meshes nicely with our vision for InsureWorx, providing insurers with an end-to-end solution that allows them to implement only the capabilities they need, and add new functionality as their needs expand."

"WorldGroup's componentized approach to underwriting, policy and claims administration through InsureWorx provides an impressive breadth of functionality and flexibility," said Jack McGannon, President and CEO of Document Sciences. "We are pleased that this industry leader has chosen to incorporate xPression as InsureWorx's customer communications 'engine'."
